Chemix
Uniting all students with a passion for chemistry
About Chemix
Chemix Leuven is a student association by students chemical engineering (‘chemische ingenieurstechnieken’ CIT) at the KU Leuven. As a student association, enabled by VTK vzw Leuven, our mission is to create value for everyone interested in Chemical Engineering by offering education-specific initiatives and events.
Furthermore, we are also proud to have a close collaboration with the Department of Chemical Engineering (CIT), which allowed Chemix to revive old traditions (i.e. the Buckyball Cup and the Departmental Dinner) and hence strengthen the bond between the students and the department.
On top of that, we are pleased to have the partners listed below, which allow us to bring more value and joy to attendees at our activities.
Chemix organises events & initiatives for chemical engineering students at the KU Leuven. These events & initiatives can be categorized into three categories: leisure, educational and professional.
- The leisure events will bring the chemical engineering students closer together by giving them a platform to connect with all their peers (i.e. bringing students closer to each other).
- The educational events will bring the student closer to their education by broadening and deepening learning opportunities (i.e. bringing students closer to their education).
- The professional events will bring the students closer to the chemical industry by preparing them with thorough insights into possible career options and by allowing them to experience these career options in person (i.e. bringing students closer to the chemical industry).
The vision of Chemix is based on three words: student-focussed, passion and responsibility:
- Student-focus: All important choices of Chemix are made with the intrest of the student at heart. Our key values and the goal of each of our events can be boiled down to creating value for students.
- Passion: The Chemix team is intrinsically passionated about the topics that we work on during the events and initiatives. One of the aims of our organisation is to create a place where this passion can be cultivated and carried the passion over to the students.
- Responsibility: Each chemix event will be organised by 2 to 3 main-organisers, guided by an experienced organiser. The organizers have full responsibility and accountability over the event, which gives them a unique opportunity to develop themselves. If the event fails to materialise, the organizers are accountable for the missed opportunity. On the other hand, if the event is an immense succes, the organisers are responsible and deserve all the credit.
